Compact, reliable and fast; the Javelin DNA ID card printer produces consistently high-quality photo ID cards. Specifically designed for working on desktops, the easy to read LCD display ensures complete ease of use. Enabling suitability for all users, the Javelin DNA is an entry-level, manually fed ID card printer while the DNA Pro has an auto feed with input and output hoppers.
Magnetic stripe and smart card (contact/contactless) encoding upgrades are available with this printer, making it a perfect choice for a range of applications including employee ID, access control cards and membership cards.
The Javelin DNA has an outstanding 300dpi print resolution and tailors its printing style to yield the highest quality results possible. It uses thermal transfer to produce sharp, clear monochrome prints and dye-sublimation technique for vivid and vibrant full-colour images.
Javelin assure their printer’s quality by providing a 30-month manufacturer’s warranty. Alongside this, they also have a dedicated technical support team which are on-hand by both phone and email to assist with any issues.
The Javelin DNA is targeted towards first-time users so is designed to be completely understandable. This user-friendly printer has an easy to read 4-line LCD display for clear notifications and intuitive control buttons to ensure no confusion.
There is also an easy to change ribbon and thermal print head to allow you to continually print with minimal interference.
Javelin have made set-up simple and quick with the DNA printer. The set-up guide will ensure you have your printer working in a matter of minutes.
The additional upgrade of security locks ensures the hoppers can be securely locked to stop printed cards being stolen, and it also includes a lock to fasten the printer to a desk to reduce printer theft.
Upgrade options for the Javelin DNA include contact & contactless smart card encoding, 3-track magnetic stripe encoding including both Hi-Co and Lo-Co, and internal USB hub.
The Javelin DNA prints to standard CR80 credit card sized cards from a range of materials including PVC and composite PVC.
The Javelin DNA’s compact design allows it to conveniently fit on a desk with its exact dimensions being 30.6cm (L) x 18.4cm (W) x 22.8cm (H) and weighs 3.7kgs.
The clean white colour of the DNA ensures it fits perfectly in any office environment while the accents of blue add understated vibrancy without taking away from the discreet, compact design.
The Javelin DNA printer is a direct-to-card (DTC) model. DTC printing means the card design is taken from the ribbon and then printed directly onto the surface of the card to give it a glossy, professional finish.
In just one hour, the Javelin DNA can produce up to 200 full-colour, single-sided cards, and a massive 800 single-sided, monochrome cards.
The Javelin DNA comes with an interface for high-speed USB and is built with 10/100 ethernet as standard. As well as this, unlike most printers, this DTC printer also has the option to add Wi-Fi connectivity.
The Javelin DNA is compatible with Microsoft Windows XP, Server 2003/2008, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 & 10.
We want to award this printer 3.5 stars out of 5. The Javelin DNA offers the perfect, compact printing package with the ability to produce large volumes of cards. The only downfalls are the lack of card security options including no lamination or holographic options. The addition of security locks are extremely useful for the printer, but adding card security measures would greatly increase card durability and reduce counterfeiting or cloning.
If security isn’t an issue and you’re looking to print a large volume of basic card designs, then this is the printer for you.
