Magicard Pronto – The clue’s in the name.
The Pronto has been named the best value printer across our entire range of ID card printers.
Known for its reliability, quick print speed and easy-to-use technology, it’s the number one choice for printing lower card volumes, making it ideal for small businesses and beginners.
The Magicard Pronto is a direct-to-card (DTC) printer, ideal for those looking to print a simple card design onto plain plastic cards and not access control cards. The Pronto is for lower print volumes, so if you need cards in small quantities i.e. less than 100, the Pronto will be perfect. If you need to print onto access control cards, have a more complex design or need to print a larger numbers of cards, Magicard’s retransfer offering, the Magicard Ultima Uno card printer, will be a more suitable option.
Your competitors will be green with envy when they see your sleek, luxurious cards. The Magicard Pronto ID card printer uses 300dpi resolution to produce professional cards boasting photo-like images and precise text and barcodes. Users can easily create staff ID cards, membership cards and loyalty cards with the Pronto.
The Pronto is incredibly easy to use, making it ideal for beginners with minimal technical knowledge. Power it up, install its easy-to-use driver, drop the dye film in and you’re ready to go. It couldn't be easier to print a professional-looking printed card.
The Pronto takes an impressive 7 seconds to print a monochrome card and just 35 seconds to print a full-colour card, making it perfect for membership clubs and businesses looking to instantly print and issue cards.
Users can print 1 of 4 fixed HoloKote® watermarks across the card surface at no extra cost. When HoloKote is used with HoloPatch® cards, an area of the watermark is highlighted as a gold security seal. This added layer of visual security allows you to can relax with clone-proof cards.
When you buy the Magicard Pronto printer through Digital ID, you will receive EasyBadge Lite design software for free, saving you £195. Please note that EasyBadge is only compatible with Windows and is limited to 100 records. For Mac-compatible design software, we recommend using cardPresso design software.
The Pronto is compatible with: Windows 8, 10 (32 and 64bit). Windows server 2012, 2016. Mac OS X 10.9.0 upwards. Linux with CUPS support. Compatible with USB rev 1.1 and USB 2.0.
The Pronto prints to ISO CR80 and CR79 size cards, with a card thickness of 0.51mm to 1.02mm. Easily print on PVC ISO blank cards, biodegradable plastic cards, rewritable, self-adhesive and HoloPatch cards. The only card we wouldn’t recommend printing on is an access control card, as these cards contain a raised chip and printing over this chip with a direct-to-card printer can cause a blemish to your print, resulting in higher re-issuance costs.
Lightweight but robust, the Pronto has a small footprint and can sit on any office desk. Its portability and versatility mean users can take the Pronto with them wherever they go. Issue cards in the office one day, and at an event or exhibition the next. The opportunities are endless.
Manufactured in Weymouth, all Magicard Pronto printers come with a two-year limited MagiCover warranty, and the UK-based Magicard support team are on-hand when you need them.
Q: Can the Pronto print onto access control cards?
A: We don’t recommend printing onto access control cards with the Pronto as it is a direct-to-card printer. If you need to print onto access control cards, you will need a retransfer printer.
Q: Can the Magicard Pronto print on both sides of the card?
A: The Magicard Pronto is a single-sided printer, which only prints on one side of the card. However, the machine enables the user to print full colour on the back of the card.
Q: Are cards and printer ribbons included?
A: Unfortunately not. All consumables are sold separately.
Q: How do I connect the Magicard Pronto to my computer?
A: You can easily connect the Magicard Pronto ID card printer to your computer with the USB cable provided.
Q: What’s the difference between the Pronto and Pronto100?
A: The Pronto is a great entry-level printer for small businesses or beginners. The Magicard Pronto100 ID card printer is a more advanced alternative with a modern look and feel, more suited towards companies with medium-sized printing requirements. Both are great options for plastic card printing.
Q: Does the Pronto support rewritable printing?
A: The Pronto supports rewritable printing on rewritable cards. This means it offers the option of erasing the information on the card surface and replacing it with new information, up to 500 times. This is ideal for cards that need updating regularly, such as temporary cards or visitor badges.
Q: Does the Pronto support over-the-edge card printing?
A: Direct-to-card printers do not print right up to the sharp edge of a card, as doing so could damage the printhead. Therefore, a small plain border is left around the sides of the card surface, to prolong the printer’s lifespan.
Our verdict is to award the Magicard Pronto four and a half stars out of five.
We love that Magicard printers emphasise security, with users able to add a standard HoloKote® design to printed plastic cards, at no extra cost.
The Pronto’s low-cost printing, reliability and drop in dye film make it a perfect choice for beginners looking to print high quality cards.
If we had to choose one area for improvement, it would be the ability to add an input-card hopper, which would eliminate the hand fed card loading and save time.
